Mothers of the Year, because we all deserve an award.

Cracked nipples.  Sleep deprivation.  Public tantrums.  Our only reward is our children?  Kidding.  Mostly.

I'll never forget during the first trimester of my first pregnancy, a middle-aged Portuguese chef said to me in broken English, "You look like teenager again with you baby!" while pointing to the unsightly blemishes on my cheeks and forehead. Now, preggos, I can't give much advice on navigating cultural gaps in pregnancy etiquette. But, I do have a tip for dealing with pregnancy acne. More than half of all pregnant women will experience it, and it usually rares its ugly head (pun intended) during your first trimester. You know, when you're already overwhelmed with a growing list of things you can't do, use or ingest. Unfortunately, most serious acne medications are on that list. Fear not, I did have some success with this:

Angels on Bare Skin by Lush
This natural cleanser uses a kaolin clay base to deep clean and finely ground almonds and lavender flowers to exfoliate. Plus, it contains rose extract to reduce redness. You just scoop a little into the palm of your hand, add a few drops of water, and mix into a paste. And, it smells intoxicating!

I haven't personally tried these Lush products yet, but they are designed specifically for problem skin:

Dark Angels and Herbalism. (Though once you are a seasoned mama, they may look more like "meconium" and "first fruit weaning poo" to you.)
Disclaimer: If this beauty tip doesn't work for you, too bad! A true MOTY hardly has time to perfect her own look, let alone care about yours.
